The age of hypocrisy

The layer, upon layer of hypocrisy surrounding the British-Egyptian and his decade old offensive social media posts, is     breathtaking. Firstly, the widespread denial that someone can change their opinions over time and with self education. A denial that doesn’t even stand up to a quick review of our own historical views, let alone   say Mandela from ‘terrorist’ to ‘Statesman’ and ‘father of a nation’ that led to an inclusive South Africa.  Secondly, Nigel Farage has been under fire for historical offensive comments and his failure to act on current Reform UK facebook groups advocating violence and anti-Jewish/anti-Muslim hatred. At no point has anyone thought to check Farage’s ancestry with the goal of revoking his citizenship. That appears to be only on the cards for brown and black citizens. So are we really going to have a two-tier citizenship based on race and religion? Because that is ‘segregation’ like that of the southern states of the US in the recent...

‘Your Party Conference

Well comrades, I’ve been licking my wounds since conference. Absorbing arguments from each side, reflecting on what happened and what it means. I’m left bitterly disappointed and thoroughly disillusioned. Unless Jeremy leaves and joins somehow with the Greens, the ‘Corbynista’ movement is dead.   I was one of the 800,000 who signed up to support a Party of the many and not the few. The vast majority, by definition, were not the revolutionary left fringe factions who’ve consistently failed to unite and build a Socialist movement over decades. Most will now navigate to the Greens, along with much of the disaffected 55,000 members of YP at present. Now it will become the Party of the few, who’ve abandoned the many.  The Leadership factions go back to ‘Collective’ in 2023, one group mainly around JC with the other faction seeking to sideline Corbyn in favour of a coalition of left Party’s and groupings.  While both leadership factions worked with revolutionary groupings, Corb...

The direction of Your Party 2025

There has been a lot of chatter on the WhatsApp group(49 members) about the future direction of YP. On FB, here we have 228 followers and I wondered what your feelings are around the leadership and what kind of politics you want for YP.     For transparency, I’ve reposted the ‘minimum political programme’ agreed upon at the ‘world transformed assembly’ in Manchester recently. 300 people from seven different ‘Socialist’ groupings voted for this programme to be adopted by YP branches.  Within this document there is explicit opposition to the ‘so-called’ leadership of ‘Corbyn or Sultana’ stating that ‘they are not up to the task’.  “These groups have agreed they will work together to fight around the founding conference of Your Party on this principled basis.” Often the word ‘fight for’ is used by these, essentially party’s within a Party. Fighting and opposing the Parliamentary representatives is a recurrent theme. This is because most of these ‘groupings’ are ‘...

Manchester Yom Kippur attack

The attack on the Manchester synagogue was a horrific antisemitic atrocity, targeting innocent Jewish worshippers. Hatred of Jews for being Jews or blaming all Jews for the crimes of Israel, is vile racism. The criminal who perpetrated it, is responsible for his own reprehensible actions. My condolences for all those affected. Manchester suffered the Arena bombing and refused to be divided, we will do the same again and maintain community cohesion between multi-faiths and ethnic groups.       Of course there is no contradiction in my being a pro-palestine activist, opposing the Israeli genocide, the apartheid colonial racism inherent in zionism and my condemnation of this dreadful act. Thats because, as many Jews worldwide shout loudly; -Judaism is NOT zionism’, zionism is NOT Judaism!    This is why we work so hard to counter the Zionist narrative that Israel acts on behalf of global Jewry. On every Pro-Palestine peace protest are the ‘Jewish bloc’, anti-zionis...

No ‘Great Replacement, No ‘invasion’

There is no ‘great replacement’, no ‘invasion’ into the UK. These words are used by right-wing influencers and right-wing politicians to weaponise the immigration issue and incite violence on the streets.     16% of the population are born outside of the UK, so 84% of us are British. Migration to the UK has increased over the last 20 years, most if it legal and the general consensus is that immigrants contribute positively to the UK's public finances, helping to reduce deficits and manage public debt. More is taken in tax than ever goes out in benefits.  There is lots of disinformation around ‘asylum seekers’. They are not allowed to work while their application is being processed. They receive a small weekly allowance much lower than universal credit. They are mostly refugees from war or persecuted groups. Anyone who is not, will have their application denied and should be removed. The UK is obliged by international treaties to take in people claiming asylum ...

Antisemitism, fake antisemitism, antiZionism, blood libel’s, global Jewish conspiracy and conflating Israel with Judaism: A ‘cry wolf’ syndrome?

Anti-Jewish hatred exists and persists, so does fake antisemitism accusations to protect Israel.   Anti-Zionism is not antisemitism, but obviously there is anti-Jewish hatred amongst its adherent’s, which should always be condemned.  Let’s be very clear, Israel has no ‘right’ to exist. This is the anti-Zionist position opposing the Zionist position that ‘the Jews have a right to self-determination’ through a ‘Jewish State’ in Palestine. The ‘self-determination’ of one group cannot be achieved by disallowing ‘self-determination’ to the indigenous population. Under the British Mandate only 8% of Palestinians were Jews, the Zionists were from Europe and influenced by Colonialist ideology and European ‘supremacism’.   When the PLO recognised Israel in the 90’s, that was a huge compromise, it was not a statement giving legitimacy to a Colonial land grab that stole Palestinian land and ethnically cleansed 750,000 Palestinian people to become refugees in Lebanon, Syr...
